Persian Garden, a centuries-old UNESCO heritage

When you step in Shazdeh garden in Kerman, Dolatabad garden in Yazd, and Fin garden in Kashan, you see lush trees, green plants, and luxurious buildings and hear the pleasant sound of water running through them.

These gardens are known throughout the world as The Persian Garden and their design and concepts are spread to many countries including India and Spain.

The concept of Persian Garden dates back to the time of Cyrus the Great, 6th century BC. One of the first examples of this garden ever discovered is Cyrus garden in Pasargadae.

What is so amazing about the garden is that its design makes it possible to grow lots of greenery in the middle of dessert with a scarce amount of water. In fact the garden responds to extreme climate conditions.

According to the official website of UNESCO “Natural elements combine with manmade components in the Persian Garden to create a unique artistic achievement that reflects the ideals of art, philosophical, symbolic and religious concepts. The Persian Garden materializes the concept of Eden or Paradise on Earth”.
